Local Priorities Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used) Message

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used), which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

The team deployed across the Waterloo and Southvank area today (28/06/2025) conducting a mixture of uniformed and plain clothes officers. This deployment was conducted in partnership with the South Bank Patrol Team.

Whilst on patrol our plain clothes officers noticed a male acting suspiciously near to the skate park. They then observed the male stealing a customers bag containing a laptop at a local bar. The male was promptly arrested by the officers for theft and if going to be charged and remanded to court.
